Greetings from Quantum Archives Space!
This is the obligatory introduction post, where I explain why I feel the need to add another voice to the already crowded blogosphere. I talk to a lot of people every day about archives and digital object managment and presentation, and often I think those conversations are worthy of remembering, and that people who weren’t in the room may be interested in hearing about them.
Mostly we talk about “what if.” For example, “What if we discarded the idea of series in archival description and aggregated like content using attributes instead?” Not all of the conversations have merit as viable ideas, but I like to think they raise questions about what we do and why we do it.
The next few posts will explain why this blog is called the Quantum Archivist, and what I mean by Quantum Archives Space.
So, there you go. I’m inviting everyone to listen in, and please, feel free to add to the conversation, and most of all, enjoy.
